Many Oman’s SMEs exited and disconnected their business in 2020 due to the absence of marketing planning and strategy and their inability to formulate strategic marketing plans due to the lack of financial liquidity from investors. This paper aims to develop a framework for marketing strategic planning for Omani SMEs by identifying the current marketing strategies, examining critical success factors (CSFs) affecting marketing strategies, and proposing the framework for marketing strategic planning for Oman’s SMEs in the sales sector. Using the quantitative method, this study adopts a questionnaire survey on 364 Omani-owned SMEs in the sales sector. The paper's findings reflect that current marketing strategies are marketing mix strategy, social media marketing strategies, and online digital marketing; the problems in implementing marketing strategies are lack of marketing activities (marketing mix), branding, market fluctuation, and financial obstacles. The framework for marketing strategic planning for Oman’s SMEs in the sales sector is expected to consist of pharmaceutical and medical products, foodstuffs, cosmetic and aromatic products, multi-goods warehouses, building materials, restaurants, and sales activities. The research provides for the effective outcomes of the SME sales business in Oman, owing to the success of KPIs and CSFs. These are the leading contributors to implementing the SMEs business in Oman.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/778 The Concept of Integration According to The Islamic Perspective 2024-02-10T00:04:18-07:00 Halipah Hamzah shalipah@uitm.edu.my
Integration is the process of assimilating into various cultural and social norms acceptable to all ethnic groups. In the context of Malaysia, integration refers to the process of unifying ethnic groups that are geographically and culturally scattered into a single national identity. The Muslim and non-Muslim communities are both seen as being integrated with Islam. Islam teaches its adherents to establish positive relationships based on acceptance, deference, and cooperation, as mentioned in surah al-Hujurat verse 13. Integration will only be successful is if all communities band together and make clear pledges. The Islamic position on integration will be discussed in this article in light of the Quran, the Prophet's hadith, and Islamic scholars. The fundamentals of unification, the significance of integration, the results of ignoring integration, and the ways to integrate the ummah are also covered. Governments and non-governmental organizations around the world are working to develop laws and policies that would reduce the negative effects of pollution and destruction. Employees’green behaviour (GB) has been considered as one of the most important factors which directly affect environmental performance. As a result of employee and organizational behaviour, often called "green behaviour," employees and organizations can have some direct effects on the environment. In this study, the intent is to examine whether there is a correlation between sustainability motivation and green behaviour in order to attain sustainable living. To examine influence factors in the relationship between Green Motivation and Green behaviour, this theoretical framework integrates the Ability, Motivation, and Opportunity models (AMO) and The Theory of Planned Behaviours (TPB) to examine factors that are involved in the relationship between Green Motivation and Green behaviour. An idea that is based on the AMO model would also be to promote the idea of Green Opportunity (GO) as a mechanism of support towards GB which is the allover of organization support for GB. These conditions can influence employee' behaviour toward the organization's goals depending on the balance between job demands and job resources from the organization. Since environmental issues can be directly or indirectly caused by employees' daily behaviour, GO has been shown to be an effect of the organization's overall
environmental performance.Throughout the process, data will be collected using a questionnaire, and PLS-SEM, as well as coefficient correlation, will be used to examine and analyze all hypotheses developed. Consequently, the findings of this study are expected to contribute to the theoretical foundations of what motivates people in university settings to adopt green behaviours. In this study, all the data was collected from World Bank. And the paper is the secondary data together with an annual data from 1991 to 2020 for Nigeria which were used in this analysis. According to the review of the relevant literature, several studies have been used in Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to determine the connection between variables. In this study, we analysed the data using the same model. We adopted the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to determine the connection between the variables in this study. In this paper, we concluded that the unemployment of the explanatory variable has a negative and significant impact on economic growth at 1% significance in the long run. In comparison, the interaction effect of the remittance and unemployment has a positive and insignificant influence on economic growth at a 1% significance level in the long run. Also, there is insignificance and negative effect of Government expenditure on the economic growth in Nigeria. In contrast, the labor force has a negative and significant impact on dependent variables. The blue line in the stability test does not cross the boundary, indicating that the coefficient is stable at 5% based on the CUSUM test. We found that the interaction effect of remittance and unemployment has a positive and insignificant impact on economic growth at a 1% level of significance in the long run, which means that if the interaction of unemployment and remittance increases by 1 percent then economic growth will increase by 11% in the long run.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/763 Do Migrant Remittances Decline Income Gap in the MENA Region? 2024-02-09T04:40:29-07:00 Khaled Elorabi kh_elorabi@mans.edu.eg Suryati Ishak suryatiis@upm.edu.my Norashidah Mohamed Nor kwpbulications01@gmail.com Saifuzzaman Ibrahim kwpbulications01@gmail.com
This paper investigates the impact of inward remittances on income inequality in thirteen Middle East and North Africa (MENA) economies, spanning from 1996 to 2020, employing the pooled mean group (PMG) technique. This article reveals that remittances from migrants to the MENA region contribute to increased income inequality, indicating that the households receiving these remittances are initially relatively well-off, and the funds significantly enhance their living standards in comparison to other families. Consequently, the paper suggests addressing challenges faced by low-income individuals aspiring to migrate, particularly in nations with high unemployment rates. These challenges encompass educational and skill deficits, information disparities, and financial limitations. Furthermore, the paper proposes implementing supplementary policies to counteract the adverse effects of remittances on income distribution, including directing resources towards initiatives that benefit the less affluent, particularly those focused on improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Lastly, it emphasizes the importance of prioritizing policies that foster political stability to create a business environment conducive to human and infrastructure investments.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/779 Conceptual Paper: Analyzing Climate-Induced Financial Risks in the Langkawi Fishing Sector 2024-02-10T06:23:19-07:00 Nor Arni Nazira Othman kwpbulications01@gmail.com Norhisam Bulot kwpbulications01@gmail.com
This proposed research addresses the pressing concern of climate change's impact on Langkawi's fishing industry. Scholars of management have repeatedly been called to explore the strategy work of individuals beyond the senior management team as part of the open strategy concept. Within this, involvement is a way to prompt the input, contributions and feedback of various stakeholders across the organisation establishment. Further, there has also been a lack of understanding of the broader process of strategizing, particularly that it is collective process. The purpose of this research is to investigate factors which influence the level of middle managers’ involvement in the strategy formulation of a single organisation (Indo Zambia Bank.). In doing so, it evaluates the impact on the organization of not taking on board key stakeholders, who are middle managers in the strategizing process. The study adopted an exploratory path and is qualitative nature. Data for analyses was collected through formal interviews with three (3) focus groups of the case organization. The focus groups are composed of experienced middle managers who have worked for the bank 10 years and above. Some of these are in charge of bank branches while the remaining are stationed at head office in various functional units. These stakeholders were selected based on their involvement in the strategy implementation process from within Indo Zambia Bank. A key informative interview was also conducted with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Indo Zambia Bank. The CEO is directly involved in the day to day running of the Bank business and is also one of the core stakeholders in strategy formulation process. The literature review revealed that middle managers are perceived differently by different management theories. However, their critical roles in the strategy formulation process are evident and cannot be ignored. All authors agree that this intermediate management group is stationed between top level and lower-level management which is very broad definition. There is a considerable overlap between elements of middle management roles, and the extent of the roles depends on the context of the organisation, time, and attitudes of middle managers. A review of the
literature also found that middle managers play critical roles in administration, leadership, decision-making, and communication, although most researched literature consider middle managers as mere strategy implementers. This research enables Scholars to articulate the process of participation in the strategy making process, using the framework to explore the nature and levels of participation in other strategy environments.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/777 Embracing the Sustainable Performance of Nigeria's Small and Medium Enterprises: Understanding and Promoting the Self Leadership Development of the Owners 2024-02-09T23:50:51-07:00 Godwin Nnaemeka Enem kwpbulications01@gmail.com Mohd Ashraff Mohd Anuar mohdashraf@upm.edu.my Nor Wahiza Abdul Wahat kwpbulications01@gmail.com Ismi Arif Ismail kwpbulications01@gmail.com
The governments and owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must proactively work towards embracing sustainable performance among SMEs, given their pivotal economic roles in nations worldwide. From the perspective of SME owners, self-leadership emerges as a potent tool, enabling them to guide themselves effectively by acquiring specific behavioral
and cognitive skills, thereby enhancing both their personal lives and entrepreneurial operations. Despite the wealth of literature available on entrepreneurship and selfleadership, the discourse on self-leadership among entrepreneurs remains limited and in its early stages. This qualitative study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of selfleadership development among ten seasoned SME owners, each with over a decade of experience in both business management and ownership in Nigeria. Participants were meticulously chosen and interviewed using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. The qualitative data were managed using Nvivo 11 Pro, and thematic analysis was employed as the analytical approach. The study's findings illuminate five crucial pathways through which these experienced owners cultivated their self-leadership skills. These pathways, applicable to new SME owners, include: (i) continuous learning; (ii) spirituality; (iii) persistence in managing environmental uncertainty; (iv) engagement in apprenticeship programs; and (v) willingness to take risks and exhibit proactive behavior. The narrow approach to defining poverty, which is centered on a monetary approach, ignores other key elements such as access to education, access to healthcare, type of home, and others that are relevant and can affect quality of life. It is vital for the policymaker to construct a holistic measure of poverty that incorporates both material and non-material areas of deprivation. From an Islamic perspective, the zakat institution plays a critical role in identifying the poor and destitute asnaf and distributing the zakat funds to the qualified recipients. Presently, zakat institutions are solely relying on the Had Kifayah method (HAK), which is a monetary-based approach to identifying the poor and destitute asnaf status and delivering zakat assistance. Thus, the goal of this study is to establish a multidimensional poverty measurement, called the Zakat Multidimensional Poverty Index (ZMPI) that aims to capture different deprivation areas that asnaf experience. An extensive analysis of the past studies, complemented by a semi-structured interview session was conducted to construct and validate the ZMPI. The proposed ZMPI integrates five dimensions, namely religion, health, education, living standards and income and represented by a total of eighteen indicators.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/768 Experience of Agro-Associations in Economically Developed Countries 2024-02-09T05:20:53-07:00 Omar Jraid Mustafa Alhanaqtah omarhanaqtah@yahoo.com
The importance of the study is determined by the fact that agricultural producers have a practical need for joint activities to realize their economic interests. As a result, developing countries, depend on foreign direct investment (FDI) to fill the gap. FDI flows have increased significantly around the world, especially in the last two decades to grow capital investment and competitiveness in host countries. Nonetheless, the surge in FDI raises concerns about its potential impact on environmental degradation. Most developing countries face serious environmental challenges because most of these countries are in transition where production activities and energy consumption exponentially rise, and access to cleaner environments and investment in environmental pollution abatement continues to be problematic. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between FDI and environmental degradation in 80 developing countries for the period 2000-2018 using Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) and Least Square Dummy Variable Corrected (LSDVC). The results indicate a positive relationship between FDI inflow and environmental degradation in developing countries. Furthermore, results suggest a significant positive relationship between FDI and environmental degradation in only middle-income countries when categorized into income groups. Interestingly, the magnitude of the impact reduces as the quality of institutions increases in these countries. In addition, results confirm a significant positive relationship between degradations and economic growth, energy usage, and population density. These results suggest that, while the negative impact of FDI does not necessitate concerted efforts to reduce it due to its enormous contribution to the economy, adequate efforts must be made to ensure that real FDI does not continue to contribute significantly to emissions.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/800 Covid-19 Impact: Fiscal and Monetary Policies in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia 2024-02-13T06:55:41-07:00 Roziana Baharin roziana.baharin@ukm.edu.my Noorhalizam Mohamed Noor kwpbulications01@gmail.com
Following the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) that occurred in 2020, indirectly affected the rate of economic growth globally. To explore the characteristics of mobile phone addiction and its inter-generational differences between elderly migrants and adolescents, this study uses the grounded theory and constructs a generational difference theory model. The study found that mobile phone addiction in elderly migrants addicts are prone to consume because they fear "withdrawing" from the world. However, adolescents’ addiction is the product of "entering the new world to create", and they believe that they can control the online world at the cognitive level, while the elderly say they cannot completely "deal with" it. In addiction dependence, "emotional" dependence is basic need for elderly migrants, while the youth are "functionally" dependent. In addition, mobile phone addiction will deepen inter-generational conflicts. Interestingly, elderly migrant often compromises to avoid conflicts. Despite their resource wealth, many African countries remain classified as developing nations. This study investigates the relationship between natural resources, both in aggregated and disaggregated forms, and composite institutional quality on the economic growth of 43 resource-rich African countries, juxtaposed against nine non-resource-rich African nations. The research seeks to analyze the interactive effect of natural resources and institutional quality on economic growth by utilizing annual data spanning from 1980 to 2020 across 52 African countries. To ensure robustness and accuracy in parameter estimation, the study employs the Driscoll-Kraay estimation technique. The findings of this study reveal that resource-rich African countries tend to experience higher economic growth rates compared to their non-resource-rich counterparts. Surprisingly, the analysis indicates that institutional quality does not exert a significant influence on economic growth in either resource-rich or non-resource-rich African nations. Furthermore, the marginal effect analysis demonstrates that weak institutional quality in Africa has mitigated the positive impact of natural resources on economic growth in resource-rich African countries. Among the disaggregated natural resources studied, natural gas emerges as a resource with no statistically significant impact on the economic growth of both resource-rich and non-resource-rich African countries. Conversely, oil and mineral resources exhibit a positive influence on economic growth. Notably, the effect of oil and mineral resources on economic growth is more pronounced in resource-rich countries compared to non-resource-rich nations. This study underscores the imperative for resource-rich African countries to prioritize the strengthening of their institutional structures as a means to achieve sustained economic growth.
2024-03-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Academic Reserach in Economics and Management Sciences https://knowledgewords.com/index.php/ijarems/article/view/764 Management’s Perceptions on the Ability of Website Marketing in Enhancing and Maintaining Organizational Reputation: Evidence from Zimbabwe’s Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Sector 2024-02-09T04:51:49-07:00 Kumbirayi (nee Makuyana) Chowa kwpbulications01@gmail.com Nadia Farhana kwpbulications01@gmail.com
The study is a direct response to the twenty-first century Marketing 4.0 digital quotient technologies, in which business activities have significantly been transformed due to technological innovations.
